July meeting - Stepper Cards

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all well, next week we will be making Stepper Cards as demonstrated by Wendy whose gorgeous creations are shown below. There are a couple of variations.

You will need to bring the usual stuff and a couple of sheets of A4 card for the base (patterned or plain) and extra pieces for matting and layering. Don't forget your mats, rulers and knifes.

We've not had any birthdays for a while but this month it's Sheila's so please bring your cards for her.

You may like to look at this site which Margaret kindly showed me mygrafico.com there are lots of fab freebies on it.

See you next week.

June meeting - Acetate Card

Hi everyone,

Sorry this is a bit later than usual, this month's creation is inspired by Wendy who came round this morning so we could make up the samples. Hopefully it will be easy enough to make and can be adapted in a few different ways.

I will bring the acetate but you will need an A4 sheet of card it can plain or patterned but sturdy enough for card base, scoring board (if you have one with measurements on even better), a few small pieces of card/paper for matting and layering, ribbons and any other embellishments.

We've used character and background stamps but any other stamps would work, raid your collection and see what you've got.

Can you tell whose is whose?

I have recently started making ATC's - for those that don't know what they are ATC means Artist Trading Card, they measure 2.5" x 3.5" and are decorated along a set theme then swapped with other crafters. I was wondering if you would be interested in a monthly swap with a different theme each month.

Also if you have any ideas for future projects or anything you'd like to know how to do please let me know.

See you next week

May meet - Card in a Card

Hello it's that time again,

Hope you're all well.

This month we'll be making a Card in a Card

You will need three square card blanks (I use 15x15) one of them needs to be a cm smaller 14x14, the third needs half the front cutting off. I'll help those that need it.

You'll also need the usual stuff, papers, images, border punch if you have one.

We've not got any birthdays this month so you can have a rest lol.

See you on Tuesday

April Meeting - Accordian Card

Hi everyone,

Hope you are well and enjoying the lighter nights.

This month we will be making an Accordian card, they are really easy to make and a bit more special than an ordinary card.

Here's mine

and here's another lovely example over on Clarky J's blog you can find plenty more here in the Splitcoaststampers gallery this should give you an idea of the sorts of images and embellishments that can be used.

You will need to bring:

2 pieces of patterned paper 6 x 6"
2 pieces of patterned paper 5 x 5"
4 pieces of coloured cardstock 4.5 x 4.5"
4 pieces of co-ordinating patterned paper 4 x 4"

Die cut images to fit page 4 x 4"
(I will bring Big Shot and some nesties if anyone needs to borrow them)

length of ribbon approx 60 cm

Flat embellishments

I will also bring the cards and stiff card for the covers.

It's Margaret Jackson's birthday this month so don't forget to bring a card.

March Meeting - Shrink Plastic

Hello again,

Is it really four week since our last meeting, how time flies.

First of all, before I forget, we can use the room from 7 o'clock so last month we decided that if anyone can get there for 7 we may as well make a start and be using the room, if it's a rush no worries, just come for half past.

This month we will be playing with Shrink Plastic, not something I use a lot of so Margaret has kindly offered to demo this. You can make allsorts of wonderful things with it so don't really know why I don't use it. It's great for charms and jewellery or making embellishments for your cards.

I will provide the Shrink Plastic but you need to bring your heat guns, some large stamps and permanent ink such as Stazon or Archival, sharp scissors (tweezers may be handy too), a large acrylic block for flattening and pencil crayons. You can also use punches/dies so if you have any you want to try bring them along.

Your stamps need to be fairly big and easy enough to cut out as the plastic shrinks to 7 times smaller and 7 times thicker, as you can see on the Santa image. Pencil crayons are the best thing to colour it with as the colour intensifies when heated.

There's one birthday this month and it's mine, yippee so on that note I will see you all next week.

February Meeting - Sketches and Layouts

Hello everyone, hope you are all well, first of all thank you to Margaret for last month's embossing lesson. I loved the ultra thick embossing, something I hadn't done before.

This time we are going to be working with a Sketch. For those that don't know about sketches these make life so much easier, a lot of magazines and blog challenges use them. They are basically card layouts which means a lot of the work has been done you just need to pick your image and papers.

I have a file full of sketches that I use for inspiration. Have a look at these blogs to give you a better idea.

Here are my samples

(my finnished card from the night)

You will need all your general equipment, images/stamps and selection of papers.

We have four birthdays this month, Wendy, Sue, Ron and Lin.

See you next week.

January meeting - Embossing

Happy New Year everyone, hope you all had a lovely Christmas.

Today I have been to look at the new venue, Carr Lane Football Club. The room is lovely and bright, the caretaker will set the room up for us beforehand and if I smile nicely put it away too! It is right at the bottom of Carr Lane on the field with the playground.

Margaret J has kindly offered to demo Embossing powders and techniques next week, so if you have a heatgun please could you bring it with you, to save waiting time. Some embossing powder would be handy too, need to check what's in the club box.

If anyone has any suggestions for future meetings let me know, as of yet I haven't planned any.

It's Val's birthday this week so don't forget a card.

Fingers crossed the weather doesn't change see you all next week usual time 7.30.
