March meeting - 13th Tealight Cards

Well it's 4am and I can't sleep so thought I would post next week's meeting.

As it's Mother's Day thought these cards would be a bit different.

They are tealight cards although you could put chocolates in, if you can find some to fit.

You will need two pieces of card 11.5 x 5" and 6.5 x 5" (you can get both out of a sheet of 12x12), small piece of acetate 1.5 x 4.5", scoring tools, double sided tape and/or glue, image and papers to decorate. I will bring the candles.

The only birthday this month is mine and it's on Mother's Day.

February meeting - 14th

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all keeping warm, so glad the snow missed us, for now anyway. Where do the weeks go? February already.

This time we will be making something a bit different, an exploding box. This one has taken me quite a while to add all the decorations, so you may want to concentrate on the basic box and finnish at home. I have made the roses and butterflies for the centrepiece but you could always put a small gift inside.

You will need:

4 sheets of good quality 12x12 double sided paper
(one sheet needs to be cut into four 6x6 pieces)
The off cuts can be used for matting and layering but you can use extra papers.

Scoring board with measurements or ruler and bone folder

Wet glue / Double sided tape for box lids

Corner punch if you have one

Embellishments (these may be added later)

We have quite a few birthdays this month - Wendy, Sue, Ron and Lin so you're going to be busy this week.

Look forward to seeing you all next week.

January meeting - 9th

Happy New Year to you all, hope you had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the year ahead.

Mine's going to be an exciting one, for those that couldn't make the meal you missed my announcement, I'm expecting a baby in June! It's number 5 and I know I must be mad but we are all really happy. The idea of a crafty baby shower was mentioned so get your thinking caps on.

Anyway, next week we will be making a card I came across on the internet called a Double Dutch fold card. It's a nice easy one to start the year with.

You will need one sheet of A4 card cut into two pieces

25 cm x 11 cm and 22cm x 5cm

scoring board

papers and image to decorate

Look forward to seeing you all next week, it's Val's birthday this month so don't forget a card.

November meeting - 8th

Hi everyone,

How time flies, November already!

First of all for those that didn't come last month the annual subs of £12 are due please along with your usual sub of £2. Sorry to repeat myself but this helps covers costs of rents when there are not many attending (such as last month) and also the luxury of going out for a Christmas meal which we hope to do again.

It would be nice to see everyone next week, if you can't make it but wish to come to the meal and continue with craft club please could you get in touch with me.

I called into the Hesketh Arms to collect a menu and must say it looks very nice again, I will bring it with me on Tuesday. It's £15.45 per head £10 of which club will pay. Club night falls on the 13th December so we will stick to that date and hopefully the same time.

Right on to the project - we will be making some milk cartons and a holder! These are perfect little gifts to fill with chocolates or whatever you fancy

This project is easier if you have one of the larger numbered scoreboards rather than a card blank board but you can use your trusty pencil, ruler and scoring tool.

You will need:-

Scoreboard / Pencil / Ruler / Score tool
Strong tape or wet glue

For the Milk Cartons

2 sheets of A4 card
Patterned paper/card for matting and layering (I've used two layers)
(4 pcs 6.5 x 7.5 cm) (4 pcs 6 x7 cm) (2 pcs 5 x 6.5 cm) (2 pcs 4.5 x 6 cm)
Two bulldog clips

For the Container

1 piece card measuring 20.5 cms x 13.5 cms
1 piece card measuring 29.5 cms x 14.5 cms
Patterned paper/card for matting and layering (I've used two layers)
(21.5 x 14 cm and 20.5 x 13.5 cm)
Ribbon for decorating / Sentiment or Image optional

Last but not least it's Tina's birthday this month so don't forget your card.

See you all next week

October Meeting and Membership fees

Hi everyone

Hope you are all well.

First of all please note Annual Susbscriptions are due this month £12 each. This means you only pay £2 every month. The advance payment enables us to have enough funds in the kitty to cover rent in quiet months, anything we may need to purchase and the luxury of going out for a Christmas meal which we are hoping to do again this year. So you will need to pay your £12 plus 2 this month, thanks.

We're going to have a nice easy week this month and give some of you a kick start into making your Christmas cards! It's just Christmas in general so root out all those festive stamps and papers.

If you've already made some cards bring a few along for ideas and inspiration.

There aren't any birthdays on the list this month but it is Marie's who requested her name be put down in September, so if you missed it last month you've still chance to send one.

See you all next week

September Meeting - Boxed Notecard Set

Hello everyone,

Well it looks like Autumn is well and truly on it's way, soon be Christmas!

Our project this month is a boxed notecard set which a lovely friend of mine did as a tutuorial in Cardmaking & Papercraft (so I can't take credit for the idea). I've attached a copy to the email, if you want to print a copy off and bring with you as a guide please do.

It's easier than it looks and only needs a few pieces of card and patterned papers.

We may not get time to do the cards as well, so we can either save that for next month or you can make them at home as they only need to be quick and simple ones.

You will need:-

2 pieces 175x135mm white card
2 pieces 195x165mm white card

4 pieces 130x130mm patterned paper (for front, back and inside)
2 pieces 130x35mm patterned paper (for inside and outside spine)

long piece of ribbon

Image for front if required

5 or 6 120x120mm card blanks and envelopes
papers/images/sentiments as required to decorate

These will make lovely gifts for Christmas.

We need a birthday card for Marie this month too, see you next week.

August Meeting - Never Ending Card

Hi everyone, it's that time of the month again, where do the weeks go?

This month we will be making a Never Ending Card, thanks to Margaret Jackson for her suggestion.

The card itself is quick and easier than it looks to make, but there are lots of spaces to decorate. So is probably best kept simple. The largest space being 3" x 3" if you have some thing like the clear Penny Black stamps they will be the perfect size or flowers. Sentiments or border punches will work in the smaller sections 1.5" x 3" .

The card will fit into a 6x6 envelope when flat.

Anyway for the base card you will need 4 pieces of card cut to 3" x 6" (bring extras with you just in case)

(I used a double sided piece of patterned card (you can get two cards out of one 12 x 12 sheet) and a 12 x 12 sheet of plain cardstock for the panels

Scoring board and tool, double sided sticky tape and papers, punches etc for decorating.

You can see a tutorial on the Lili of the Valley website using their pre-scored kits.

There are two birthday's this month Margaret Brown and Chelsea.

See you next week
